What to tell your barber
“I’d like faded stubble. Please keep the chin and jawline at 3 millimeters and the cheeks at 2, fading to 1 millimeter toward the sideburns. Blend the fade in my hair into the beard, and clean up the neckline just above my Adam’s apple.”

About Faded Stubble
With faded stubble, the length isn’t the same everywhere. The chin and jawline are kept at 3 millimeters, the middle of the cheeks at 2 and the area near the cheekbones and sideburns at 1 millimeter or less. These steps create a soft gradient. To keep the look, repeat the same sequence with an adjustable trimmer every two or three days.
On a round face, the darker shadow around the jaw makes the face look more angular. On square and diamond faces, it defines the jawline; on a heart-shaped face, it adds weight to a narrow chin; and on an oval face, it looks clean. One to two weeks of growth is enough. With a taper fade, high fade, French crop or fade, your barber can blend the haircut straight into the beard.
What’s the difference between faded stubble and regular stubble?
Regular stubble is the same length all over. Faded stubble is longest on the chin and gets shorter toward the cheeks and sideburns, so it looks sharper. Try both on the same photo to see the difference side by side.
Can I fade my stubble at home?
Yes, with an adjustable trimmer. Trim everything at the longest setting, then go one step shorter each round, starting a little higher on the cheeks.
How many credits does it take to try Faded Stubble in Mane?
Each CONFIRM costs 1 credit and creates one image. Picking options and browsing uses no credits; a credit is only used when you press CONFIRM, and it’s refunded automatically if the generation fails. You can combine a hairstyle, color and beard in the same CONFIRM. During the beta, credits are bought in the app and the same balance works on the web.
