Ice blue requires lifting the hair close to platinum. Pastel blue on a yellow base easily turns green, so a very light, clean base is essential. It’s semi-permanent, so it fades within a few weeks, usually into a silvery tone.
It looks very fresh on cool undertones and makes blue and gray eyes stand out. With short cuts like a pixie, buzz cut or shag it looks futuristic, and on long straight hair it flows like ice.
What’s the difference between ice blue and silver?
Silver is metallic and gray; ice blue is a clearly blue pastel. Both need a very light base. Try them on the same photo to compare.
Why does ice blue hair turn green?
Yellow left in lightened hair mixes with the blue pigment and looks green. A very light base cleaned up with toner prevents this.
